Raw Food in India?

Question: How would you recommend staying mostly or all raw in India?

Answer:

1) Mental: Unless you’ve been 100% raw in the states for at least two years now, don’t worry about being 100% over there. Just do the best you can with what you have. The mental pressure of forcing yourself to stay 100%, unless you know how to handle it, is worse than a few cooked meals here and there. This is all part of a larger journey. Not 100% raw, but 100% healthy - mental, physical and spiritual.

2) Greens: Bring 1 bottle green powder with you for every 2 weeks you’re there (like Nature’s First Food). Drink green juice twice a day or as you feel you need it.

3) Bacteria:
Bring FOOD GRADE 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and wash your vegetables in a big bowl of water with a few DROPS (like half a bottle cap full in a big bowl). This will remove bacteria contamination from the produce. Nature’s First Law sells good quality Food grade Hydrogen Peroxide.

4) No Fried:
Everything in India is fried so watch out. Instead if you eat cooked, eat lightly cooked meals and avoid fried food. If you don’t eat anything fried on your trip, it will be a huge success! Most of the oils they use are hydrogonized and those oils are the most unhealthy oils around.

5) Allergies: If you don’t feel comfortable explaining raw to people, tell them you have allergies and you’re in to Ayurveda. Don’t be afraid to share what you’re up to, but if you encounter an Ego who is looking to resist you, the topic of allergies often gives you a free pass. Share with the people who care, let Ego’s looking for a fight do there own thing.

6) Enzymes: If you can, bring a bottle of digestive enzymes with you when you’re there. And try to take 1 pill and 6 ounces of green powder water before you eat a big cooked dinner. They’ll help.
