We Like It Raw Quickies - Lately Ive been thinking about how much MOST of us...

Lately Ive been thinking about how much MOST of us think about food. And honestly these forum/threads have really proven how obsessed we are. There has been so much hostility and people feeling like they are being attacked and must defend their style of eating to the death, no matter how much time it wastes or how people’s feelings get hurt in the process. Vegan vs non-vegan, 80/10/10 vs greens vs fat vs superfoods etc etc etc.
We have it twisted. LIFE is not FOOD. How we eat is not who we are. I think a great many of us have lost sight of the bigger picture and we are so so attached to food in general. Food isnt love. RAW food isnt love either, its just raw food. Really.
Just because you eat a “perfect” ( whatever that means) 100% raw food diet does NOT insure you against your own mortality, it does not make the pain of past abuse go away. It will not ensure that your lover will never leave you. It doesnt replace a terrible childhood with beautiful memories. It also wont make you a better person. It also wont make you a worse person. We need to stop letting food define us, thats where hostility and defensiveness come in.
Ive spent many years obsessing over my last meal and fantasizing about the next. Its fine in the beginning to seek answers to questions, to want to learn and grow and heal. But it has to be holistic. A mind that is so focused on one area of life is not a healthy mind. Learn about how the body works and how to best feed it, then move on. Dont let it become your self-identity. Raw food is amazing fuel to reach your dreams, but it cant be the entirety of one’s dreams. Does this make sense?
